Neck Spinal Disc Surgery Avoided, Severe Arm Pain Resolved
James McIntosh, 69, of Rockford, IL started his years of spinal problems at age 23 as a furniture mover. He used chiropractic for relief and maintenance successfully for 26 years. Then on August 26, 1988 his chiropractor gave him a forceful adjustment to his neck. Jim recalls seeing and feeling sparks. Immediately he had severe neck pain, arm pain and difficulty walking. He saw a neurologist who advised traction and epidural spinal cortisone injections two times. No help. He saw two surgeons; both advised spinal disc surgery. Meanwhile he got spinal decompression traction, self-applied hot and cold packs and positioning therapy which helped his 24/7 misery. Jim found that he would have considerable pain relief if he rested his chin on his chest at all times. He could now drive to work looking under the steering wheel. However his left arm withered (atrophied). Jim's luck turned when a trusted physician in Rockford suggested he see Dr. Faber. Jim recalls vividly his first treatment of reconstructive therapy gave rapid wonderful relief and improvements to all aspects of his now 10 months of suffering. After four treatments Jim felt he was cured.
Again his luck left him as he was clobbered in an automobile accident that brought his neck pain on with a vengeance. Jim recalls seeing Dr. Faber after the accident feeling that now he had really done it and was doomed to a life of pain and disability. Jim was somewhat pleasantly shocked when Dr. Faber stated "We've had many people have injuries or over-use setbacks in the course of their treatment and have always gotten them back on track." In a total of 19 treatments Jim had a total recovery. He went back to his very active life, including serious golf. He even took a 20% pay cut so he could play three straight days of golf weekly. After 11 years of "swinging out of his shoes" Jim developed some neck pain. A series of Dr. Faber's treatments led to a full repair and he of course returned to golf. In Feb. 2008 he presented to Dr. Faber his 191 yard hole-in-one plaque stating, "I attribute your help to making this possible."
Congratulations to Jim on great golf and overcoming what seemed to be insurmountable pain and disability.
