Watch Video Testimonials Dr. Faber "John was possibly the most complicated and extensive pain and disability patient of my career." John's track-running injury started his life saga of pain and medical-surgical treatments at age 15. He sought diagnosis and treatments of various kinds across North America (including the great white North) from famous large universities' surgeons to solo practice chiropractors for over 30 years. He was labeled as having multiple herniated discs in the neck and back, arthritis with huge spurs, myofascial syndrome, fibromyalgia, sacroiliac and spinal subluxations and other designations. He endured the multiple spinal surgeries, cortisone epidural spinal and joint injections. Cortisone tablets, every new and old arthritis medicine (yes, even including race horse medicine), all the pain pills, sleeping pills, relaxers, tranquilizers and anti-depressant pills invented. All the chiropractic, massage and physical therapy techniques were done repeatedly for years. Fortunately these gave him some temporary respite. He purchased every lay and professional gizmo sold. Pillows, supports, traction devices, beds, mattresses, braces, electrical stimulators, bracelets, magnets, saunas, hot packs as well as every balm, liniment, salve, cream, gel, roll-on and oil ever produced. Of these only the back braces, of which he wore two, one over the other, produced a modicum of relief. Finally in the early ‘90's he heard Dr. Faber speak of his seminal book Pain, Pain Go Away on a radio program. In reading it John had at least half a dozen "Ah-ha" experiences concerning his pain and disability. John made up his mind and flew over 1000 miles for a week of intensive reconstructive therapy. The results of that effort John states "Changed my life forever". John took Dr. Faber's physician preceptor training and never regretted it for even a second. John is John Parks Trowbridge M.D. of Life Celebration Health Center in Humble, Texas. He is special author of the "Fibromyalgia/Hypermobility the Missing Diagnosis and Cause" chapter of the new edition of Pain Pain Go Away, Oct. 2007. When you read it expect to get many "Ah-ha's" on stubborn head to toe pain problems not helped by other methods. Restless Legs, Insomnia, Back Pain and Difficulty Walking Resolved As the creepy crawling feeling moved its way up my legs I rolled on my back. I knew it was going to be another sleepless night. It was my fourth night of lying restless in bed that week. I thought about how long it had been since I was able to sit through a movie or even watch TV without getting charlie horses. I couldn't even go for a car ride without wanting to crawl out of my own skin. Worst of all I had a hard time watching my daughter's softball games. This problem was really becoming a disability affecting my everyday life. I wasn't ready to have surgery that wasn't even guaranteed to help or to be on harsh painkillers with bad side effects for the rest of my life. I truly felt that I had been dealt a bad hand. My hips were so sore and painful I could hardly walk. I had taken sleep aids and taken hot baths but neither did anything. I was at the end of my rope until I met Dr. Faber. Dr. Faber told me that the hips were good but the problems were coming from severe spurring of the low back, muscle attachments to the pelvis and later a mineral deficiency. After just one appointment with Dr. Faber I was able to go home and sleep on my side that night, I hadn't been able to do this for years. As I continued with a combination of treatments and supplements I was able to climb ladders, bike and walk to work. I could finally walk! Something that seems so simple and we take for granted in our lives. Mary Kardoskee truly is my savior for referring me to Dr. Faber. I know that my life wouldn't be what it is now without him and his treatments. Judy Burley Green Bay, WI Failed Back Surgery and 50 Years of Pain Ended I have had back trouble almost all of my life; even back in grade school I had problems. I went to chiropractors through the years and the relief I got would not last. Around 1955 the pain got so bad, that I had to go in for surgery and I had a laminectomy. I got some relief but I had to wear a brace. The doctors told me everybody has a little pain in their life and you will have to learn to relax and live with the pain About 8 years ago I went to an orthopedic doctor, he X-rayed and told me "I wouldn't touch you surgery wise." "Learn to live with the pain." About June of 1989, it got so bad I could not stand the pain. I went to a different orthopedic doctor and he said my lamina were rubbing on one another. Doctor removed those and I felt better, but still had pain. I was listening to WTMJ and I heard Dr. Faber talk about back problems and he said reconstruction therapy could strengthen the ligaments and muscles. I immediately bought Dr. Faber's book Pain, Pain Go Away and it made so much sense to me. I then called for an appointment and came to see Dr. Faber. I was so surprised I had almost immediately relief from my pain. I was so impressed with the immediate results I obtained. It defied my understanding of the injection therapy. I am so happy with my progress. My back feels so much firmer and I have much more strength. I feel it is here to stay. I would be happy to talk to anyone that calls me. All my friends have been told about my treatments. Philip Strohm, Lake Mills, WI (From Instant Pain Relief, 2nd edition) Alternative to Spinal Fusion Surgery Successful x 2, Successful Alternative to Lumbar Disc Degeneration, Successful Alternative to Cortisone and Ankle Fusion SurgeryHilda Webb of Milwaukee, WI first came to Milwaukee Pain Clinic 21 years ago in 1985. Her problem started 30 years prior to that with a car accident causing 6 vertebral fractures in her neck. She was paralyzed, but spinal fusion surgery worked exceptionally well for her which often is not the case. Her paralysis and disability resolved for an incredible 30 years. In 1985 her fusion failed which unfortunately is the common result. She sought options and help from two major Milwaukee medical centers. The diagnosis and advice was the same - that the fusion had failed causing a herniated disc. Both institutions recommended surgical disc removal and placement of rods and screws into the mid-back below her extensive spinal fusion. She came to Dr. Faber who felt that she had nerve irritation at the base of her fusion surgery. He applied neural therapy, a non-cortisone injection therapy to restore normal nerve flow and relieve tissue tension, and the subject of Dr. Faber's second book Instant Pain Relief. True to form, it gave her instant relief. Repeated treatments of neural therapy provided lasting relief at which point Hilda agreed to prolotherapy(reconstructive therapy), which is described in Dr. Faber's first book Pain Pain Go Away. As an alternative to spinal fusion, prolotherapy caused a re-growth of tendon, ligament and connective tissue. Repeated treatment allowed her to avoid disc and fusion surgery for over 17 years at which time Hilda had return of pain into the base of her neck, shoulder and arm. She sought the advice of a spinal surgeon and spinal surgery was recommended. Hilda recounted that the surgeon mentioned results of the best spinal fusion surgery had failure, pain, disability and other complications. She returned to Dr. Faber again, who applied prolotherapy and once again was able to avert spinal fusion surgery. During this course of time Hilda developed two other problems which frequently fail in spite of the best medical and surgical intervention. One was degenerative lumbar disc pain. This promptly resolved with reconstructive injections. The second problem resolved was a long-standing sprained ankle. Frequently cortisone and ankle fusion surgery are recommended for this common, yet difficult problem. Once again, because reconstructive therapy stimulates the body's own tissue repair mechanism, she was able to avoid yet another fusion surgery. We congratulate Hilda on perseverance in taking the road less traveled and overcoming problems which unfortunately many continue to suffer for their entire life. Neck Disc Degeneration, Spinal Stenosis, Alternative to Tendon Transfer John Christianson of Milwaukee, WI and Traverse City, MI reports "Four years ago in 2001 my neck had severe pain due to two sets of vertebrae that had gone out of alignment and the central canal that encloses the spinal cord had narrowed. The radiologist who reviewed the x-ray remarked ‘There is much to cause severe pain'.
"After a course of physical therapy which included motorized traction, the spine specialist who was treating me prescribed that I regularly press my forehead against a wall to strengthen my neck muscles. All this eventually resulted in no improvement but about then I happened upon Dr. Faber's book, found it to be logical and asked Dr. Faber to treat me. After about 20 treatments my neck was pain free. Although I remained pain free, I returned a year later for 12 additional treatments to gain insurance the extra ligament strengthening provided.
"By then I was 80 years old and the third joint of my right thumb had broken down from a lifetime of hard use. The joint became a large rock-hard lump that was so painful I could not turn a key in a door lock. Prolotherapy did not seem appropriate for this so I consulted with two hand surgeons who recommended a standard but remarkable treatment for this almost common crippling disease. The joint is cut out and replaced by a long tendon that is harvested from the forearm with the severed end formed into a ball that replaces the cut out bone.
"This scared me and I turned to Dr. Faber and asked if he could help me with his less invasive system. He did 12 treatments to the back of my hand, injecting the network of tendons and ligaments, paying special attention to the thumb. It took awhile but the big, hard arthritic lump slowly receded, as did the pain, until now the lump is mostly gone. I am pain free and can bear down with my grip, although I am cautious to not do so carelessly.; I have been able to return to my vigorous sporting loves of competition sailing and downhill skiing. It means a lot to me to continue with these lifelong activities."
Severe Neck, Shoulder and Upper Back Pain, Resolved for 12 Years Thirteen years ago I was having terrible neck and shoulder pain. I had a cortisone injection in the shoulder with no results. It was severely impairing my ability to work as a beautician. I really didn’t know what I was going to do. A surgeon advised neck surgery after an implanted electrical unit failed to relieve my pain. After I had physical therapy I was referred to Dr. Faber by Dr. Kadile. I recall that on my first visits, Dr Faber raising my arm to check my shoulder brought tears to my eyes. I started the reconstructive injection therapy with both hope and anxiety since I’d been suffering without relief for over a year. By the second or third treatment I could notice an improvement. In all my pain was coming from the neck, upper back and shoulder. Treatments to these areas permanently resolved my pain for over 12 years now. Life is a miracle of great health since I met Dr. Faber. I brag about my perfect shoulders and neck free of pain without surgery and drugs. My sister and my mom went to Dr. Faber and he helped both of them. Several friends also went to him for various reasons and were so pleased. Dr. Faber is a wonderful doctor who really means it when he says “I can help you”, who is dedicated to his patients, and who treats you like his only patient. Again, I will always be grateful what you did for me. It is wonderful to be pain free. Donna Marble-Detampel Green Bay, WI
Disabling Shoulder Separation Resolved Dr. Richard Vander Heyden, 53, a Green Bay dentist saw his world crashing as he flew over the handlebars of a dirt bike. Initially he went to the emergency room and was told that he had a complete 3rd degree shoulder separation. He saw the orthopedic surgeon who advised that surgery was needed to place various screws and other hardware to restore the shoulder. Dr. Rick declined and was told that physical therapy could restore function and relieve pain, but the deformity would still be present. Dr. Rick was completely disabled from his operative dental practice and too swollen to start physical therapy for 3 more weeks. He started physical therapy but even the lightest treatments caused unbearable return of pain. With all other options exhausted Dr. Rick started prolotherapy/reconstructive injection therapy with Dr. Faber in Milwaukee 6 weeks after the injury. There was still such swelling and tissue trauma from the injury that the therapy had to be taken slowly and carefully. In 6 months Dr. Rick was able to resume his full surgery schedule. Shortly after this he re-roofed his house himself since all the roofers were occupied with storm repair. The tearing off of 2 tons of roof material and installing 2 tons of roofing materials gave Dr. Rick the confidence that his shoulder was good to stay. His injury occurred in 1997 and he remains well today.
Excruciating Back Pain Resolved for 10 Years Floyd Kiesow, 73, of Fort Atkinson, WI came to the clinic 10 years ago. After years of operating heavy equipment and lifting he developed 24/7 back pain. Floyd sought the help of Fort Atkinson physicians and a well known Madison back doctor. These doctors all stated they had no idea as to the cause of his pain. Floyd also treated with two chiropractors without relief. On one occasion Floyd traveled to Mayville with his work and the trip hurt his back so badly that he couldn’t stand without steadying himself with his hands. At that time he decided that he had to get relief. His wife read about Dr. Faber in a book describing prolotherapy/non-surgical reconstructive therapy. Floyd started treatments to his back and promptly noted differences. He was now able to stand, drive, lift, operate heavy equipment and sleep. He completed his treatments10 years ago and is still going strong and working daily doing drain tile installation without further treatments.
Back to Top 24 Years of Migraines Lynne Steinbach of Brillion, WI suffered debilitating migraines and neck pain for 24 years. She had whiplash at the age of 18. Later she had a compression fracture of her 5th neck vertebra. She had headaches or migraines nearly every day. Her head was so painful it hurt to comb her hair. Lights and sounds would worsen it. She spent many days for 24 hours in dark rooms. At times would have to go to ER for Demerol injections. She sought medical help who told her that the stress of raising two children herself was the cause. This lead to Valium prescription. Other doctors gave Steroids, Anti-Depressants, Arthritic and pain medications which provided no real help. She had CAT and MRI scan’s and was told she had multiple kinds of migraine headaches for which there were no known effective treatments. A co-worker who was treating at the clinic told Lynne to come. Within a month her husband noticed how much she had improved with the weekly non-drug or cortisone reconstructive therapy. Lynne could feel her neck get physically strong and her headaches lessened. During the treatments when migraines started they would not take the firm hold as they did previously and she did not have to spend 24-hour periods in bed. She notes that with great happiness that she doesn’t have to take 100/500 mg of Tylenol tablets per week. On June 14, 2004 I advised that her treatments were complete. Congratulations in your success over pain and disability. I extend my thanks to your husband in supporting you when it looked like there was simply no help available. Alternative to Neck Surgery Neck, Shoulder, Arm, Hand, Bulging Discs Back, Knees and Wrist Lorna Falkosky is a resident of Wisconsin Rapids, WI who has given us permission to share her story. After multiple traumas to her head and neck many years previously she developed right shoulder blade and right arm pain, numbness of index and long finger and neck pain. It quickly increased to partial paralysis of her right arm and hand. Her local medical doctor advised her to have traction therapy which she did while she waited for the appointment with the neurosurgeon who specialized in major problems of the spine. He confirmed what her primary doctor had diagnosed, two bulging discs and pinched nerves going into right arm. He advised spinal surgery with removal of the two discs replaced with bone from the hip and fusion with titanium. She was told that she could expect not to be able to paint or do other overhead activities in the future. Lorna sought our help since we were able to help her back and knees and wrist problems nearly ten years before. All her activities were extremely painful when we started treatments. We applied reconstructive therapy to regrow the ligaments, tendons and connective tissue to her neck. In time this fully resolved her neck and arm problems. She regained her full strength. Now she is able to resume gardening, her vigorous employment and even painting. Lorna’s comments “I am so glad I did the reconstructive therapy. I know two people who had the neck surgery and spinal fusion. One lady had two surgeries that were unsuccessful and she remains in constant pain. Another man had several neck surgeries that were unsuccessful and had to go on full disability. I am so thankful that I didn’t undergo neck spinal surgery and have regained all my abilities with no arm pain and no medications and getting no further treatments. For me reconstructive therapy has restored the quality of my life several times. I am happy to be able to share my story.” Congratulations Lorna on your success. You deserve it. 30 Years of Disability Hypermobility Syndrome Jean Rockwood of Wisconsin Rapids, WI suffered from severe back and neck problems for nearly 30 years, starting when she was in her 20’s. She tried medical doctors and pain clinics without relief, learned of chiropractic and acupuncture and lived on a bottle of Excedrin a week for years. One evening she was sitting on the floor and could not get up. She could not stand due to pain in her back and down her legs. Her chiropractor came to the house every day for a week until she could go to his office. She kept a pain diary with many weeks of “in bed all day” and saw her chiropractor or doctor every day for weeks. She would get some better, only to start all over again. After going to a pain clinic that insisted she just needed stretching Jean found she was worse. The doctor then recommended steroids. She didn’t go back and decided to see Dr. Milne in Las Vegas, a holistic doctor who had helped her with other health problems. Dr. Milne suggested Jean see Dr. Faber and she made an appointment as soon as she returned. At her first appointment in March Jean was in so much pain she could hardly get up the step. She couldn’t lift anything. Riding and lying down were extremely painful. Her goal was to ride her bike by the end of summer. Jean was told that she had an undiagnosed benign joint hypermobility syndrome. This is an inherited condition causing a predisposition to generalized pain and arthritic pain. She was informed this was the primary reason why no other therapy provided any relief or minimal temporary relief. The hypermobility syndrome condition caused all her joints to be weaker than normal and therefore in time a multiple pain syndrome from no apparent injuries or high usage. She was informed reconstructive therapy was ideal for this because it has been shown to cause new tissue growth producing stronger ligaments, tendons, cartilage and joints. In all Jean had neck, mid-back, low back, sacroiliac joints, right ankle, right wrist, right shoulder and right thumb reconstructed and the nerves of her occiput and legs normalized with neural-fascial therapy. She had a few flare-ups, but worked patiently with Dr. Faber and by September she was able to ride her bike 14 miles in 3 days. Since then she has been able to do all the things she couldn’t before including rollerblading and keeping up with her 5 grandkids. Jean says,“ I am able to do more now than I could when I was much younger and it’s much more fun pain free. Thanks to Dr. Faber, I have a full life now without medicines and treatments.” Jean’s last treatment was June 5, 2001. She remains pain free, restored to full function, takes no medication or treatments and has long since said goodbye to over 30 years of severe pain and disability. Congratulations Jean and thank you for allowing us to regain your life and happiness. Back to Top Alternative to Spinal Fusion Spondylolisthesis, Hypermobility Craig Ewald of Milwaukee, WI, CEO of Ewald Automotive Group has agreed to share his story of back pain resolved with reconstructive therapy. Craig had a lumbar spondylolisthesis, in which a lumbar vertebra had slipped forward off its base. This caused deep aching pain in his low back round the clock for over 2 years. The pain was made even worse with activity. A well-known large clinic recommended fusion surgery for his back. This was not an attractive option, as Craig had seen poor results with surgery on many of his friends and employees. Craig consulted Dr. Faber regarding his back problem and was told that reconstructive therapy was better than surgery for his problem. Craig made the decision to do reconstructive therapy and since completing his treatments over 20 years ago has had no recurrences and no further treatment of any kind. In Craig’s own words “I can golf, waterski, swim, hunt, do landscaping (his hobby) and other activities that used to cause me severe pain. My wife Jan and I have raised three boys. The youngest is finishing high school. All of them were very active in multiple high school competitive sports. I am glad that I chose reconstructive therapy because it has allowed me to participate with them in these sports. Reconstructive therapy has allowed me to live a medication and treatment free life. I thank Dr. Faber and staff of the Milwaukee Pain Clinic for restoring my health and activities. I consider my back reconstructed and cured.” Alternative To Spinal Fusion Hypermobility Syndrome I most appreciate the notes that many send detailing how their life is after receiving treatments here. Kristi Winters of Beloit, WI has allowed me to share her story. As listed in my book Instant Pain Relief 2nd Edition and from Kristi’s personal note, the following is her story. At age 39 Kristi’s health had rapidly declined. She lost 40 pounds in 6 weeks, she had severe pain in all her joints and she was depressed. The was so weak she couldn’t lift a gallon of milk or walk to the mailbox. She couldn’t drive due to pain. Kristi had to cup her hands around her neck for support. She planned her activities around short jaunts and then she would have to lie down. Kristi saw ten doctors who advised physical therapy, exercise, painkillers and other medications. She was offered surgery and was told she could become worse. Doctors told her that there was nothing else they could do and that she would have to learn to live lying down in excruciating pain. Kristi was about to give up when she saw Pain, Pain Go Away on the library shelf. When she read the neck chapter, it really hit home. As soon as she could she got an appointment at the clinic. She commented that she was not a fast responder and I told her 3 things she had not heard before. She had a genetic weakening of her joints, hidden dental infections and contaminated tryptophan supplements. All slowed her healing response and caused her joint weakening. We guided her through these problems. Gradually her back and neck got stronger with reconstructive and neural therapy. She could be up for a longer period of time. The axe she described in her neck was removed. Kristi stated in her hand written note “…Not a day of my life will go by that I don’t thank God for helping me find the one person with the skill and knowledge to give me a future I can look to with anticipation instead of dread…I now live a full life, work full time and can enjoy my children and grand children even traveling to Japan to do so.” Congratulations Kristi and thank you for sharing.
Failed Spinal Surgery Hypermobility Syndrome Alice Mickelson of Brookfield, WI is a patient who has given us permission to share the story of her success. After spinal surgery in 1987 she was worse, was told she now needed spinal fusion surgery, and faced life in a wheelchair. She lived on ibuprofen, in pain 24/7. A friend told her about the book Pain, Pain Go Away. In it she found an explanation of the reason for her pain and a method of relief. With the first few treatments she could tell changes in leg pain and aching in her back. She could feel her back growing stronger. She could sit, stand, ride in a car, walk and sleep better. After getting treatments she has, in her own words, gone from “a pill- taking, depressed and crippled shell of a person to someone who is enthusiastic about living.” She gardens, hikes, does housework, and does her job without pain. It’s been over 5 years now since Alice has had any spinal treatments and she continues all her activities pain free.
Back to Top Headaches, 3 Knee Surgeries, Back, Wrist, Elbows, Ankle Vernon Karls of Malone, WI tells his story. At the age of 47 he was not able to continue working as a carpenter due to three knee surgeries. He had a complete ACL tear and was advised to have a fourth surgery, an osteotomy. He was told osteotomy might last 5 years. He could then expect to have a total knee replacement surgery. He was placed on total disability and informed that he had to change his life long career. Vernon didn’t know what to do since he figured he had another 20 years of employment and he was only trained to do Industrial Carpentry. Vernon learned of Dr. Faber’s seminar and attended. He started treatment immediately thereafter. Initially, he requested help with his neck and elbows. Vernon felt he had a serious neck problem as he had seen a number of practitioners. He finally found help but it was not lasting. Dr. Faber applied neural-fascial therapy to the base of his cranium which resulted in dramatic and permanent recovery from this long standing severe problem. Vernon originally thought his knee was too far-gone and that he would have to continue with the surgery. He asked Dr. Faber to evaluate his knee and to his surprise was told “I believe we can fix that knee as we have with similar problems or even worse.” Vernon agreed to reconstruction of the knee and made improvements over time to the point where his knee is fully and naturally stabilized and needs no further treatments. In addition Vernon requested treatment to his back, wrist, elbows and ankle. All these have recovered fully or are dramatically improved. Vernon was able to return to full time work as journeyman carpenter on 11-1-99. He continues to be able to lift, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, pound and saw full time at his chosen occupation. Vernon states “I hate to imagine what my life would be without Dr. Faber’s treatments. I would be happy to tell anyone the details of my return to full function from full disability and daily pain. I give my deepest thanks to Dr. Faber and staff at the Milwaukee Pain Clinic for being there for me.”
Reconstructive Therapy Henry, an 86 year-old man, with bone on bone knee arthritis was considered too old by surgeons for knee replacements. He could not get out of a chair without help or ambulate without a walker. Picture demonstrates his ability after reconstructive therapy treatments. For details see Chapter 11, Pain Pain Go Away Neural Therapy Patient with years of disabling headaches following a fall. Change occurred after first treatment of neural therapy.
For details see Dr. Faber's book Instant Pain Relief or video Neural-Fascial Therapy . Wrist PainI developed pain, swelling and constant aching in my wrists from doing Chiropractic adjustments. I had adjustments to my neck and wrists and took nutritional supplements. These all failed to produce adequate results. This problem has plagued me for over five years. I was beginning to think, "What am I going to do when I couldn't give hand adjustments anymore?" Dr. Bill's reconstructive therapy gave strength and endurance to my wrists again. My years of pain and swelling are gone for good. In fact, I don't even think about my wrists anymore. Dr. G.A., D.C. Bethany, MO
Spinal Pain I would recommend the non-surgical neural-fascial reconstruction method over surgery or any other technique for chronic disc pain. I've had cervical and lumbar spinal surgery and many injuries. My joints are truly better in every single way as a direct result of these wonderful but powerful tiny injection treatments by Dr. Faber. John Parks Trowbridge, M.D. Humble, TX 77338 Co-Author of Do What You Want To Do
Back to Top Multiple Back SurgeriesI had two back surgeries and over 50 years of back pain; I couldn't do my activities. After I heard Dr. Faber on the radio, I got the treatments. Now I play golf and do all the activities I want.
Phil S. Lake Mills, WI
Arthroscopic Surgeries and ACL RepairI had two arthroscopic surgeries and one ACL repair, and each time my knee got worse. I took medicines and therapies and continued with pain and used crutches 70% of the time. I was advised to have more surgery. I got Dr. Faber’s treatments. I am off medications, therapy and crutches. My knee is stronger and better than it’s been in years.
Jeff S. DePere, WI
Foot / Ankle / Back PainI first noticed pain in my foot, ankle and back ten years ago. I have a congenital foot deformity and spinal scoliosis. Doctors said foot surgery was my only choice. I knew this would end my dance profession. Instead I got treatment from Dr. Faber. My foot and ankle got stronger and firmer. My back doesn't give out when I am dancing. These injections have saved my career by helping my body heal itself. The treatments allowed me to continue to work without taking any time off from my dancing. I continue to do all my activities over ten years after treatments. Diane R. Sheboygan, WI
Knee Replacement AdvisedMy knees were keeping me up at night. I couldn't carry anything, couldn't climb stars without two handrails. At 54 I was told I needed both knees replaced but to try and hang on until 60 with pain pills. I got Dr. Faber's treatments. Now after 14 years without further treatment my knees are younger then ever.
Helen T. Green Bay, WI
Wrist DisabilityI suffered wrist and hand pain for ten years that threatened my career. I received Dr. Faber's treatments and continue my former work. I professionally recommend his work. Jill D. Green Bay, WI
Back to Top Shoulder DislocationI severely tore and dislocated my shoulder in a motorcycle fall several years ago. I was told of surgical options. I got physical therapy and got worse. I received Dr. Faber's treatment. I'm out of pain and as strong as ever.

Failed Back Surgery, Returned to Work After 4 Years Dennis Engler of North Platte, NE arrived at the clinic in June of 1997 lying in a van and complaining of upper back, neck, left shoulder, arm, low back and leg pain. He had been off work for approximately four years, had seen more than15 specialists and had been on many medications for pain and inflammation. Dennis had disc surgery, saw chiropractors and had physical therapy. He reported it had been 15 years since he felt good and spent 85% of his life in bed. One doctor told him it was a mental problem and sent him to a psychologist who did a battery of tests. He was also told that he had fibromyalgia. On Dennis’s first trip to the clinic he had to stop every couple hours and walk around because it was too painful for him to even lie in the van and later in bed. At his first visit to the clinic he had to stand throughout the visit. He was bent over severely to the side, in severe pain, and had very limited range of motion of the lumbar spine. Dr.& Faber applied neural-fascial therapy which resulted in immediate dramatic return of spinal motion and badly needed pain relief. He could sit and felt much better after the first week of treatment. His neural–fascial therapy was quite brief and he was able to start reconstructive therapy to his lumbar spine, then his thoracic and cervical spine. Dr. Faber also did therapy on Dennis’s ankles and feet. Dennis would return approximately every 4-6 weeks for nearly three years for five days of treatment. In the course of treatment Dennis had improvement in pain and regained all his abilities and endurance. He gradually was able to sit for the entire 13 hour drive. In early 2000 he received a very vigorous, day-long, comprehensive functional capacity evaluation by a physical therapist. He was also evaluated by the company doctor and returned to his regular employment as a clerk inspector which involves lots of climbing and handling heavy railroad switches. To this date he continues at his job and is doing very well. Dennis and Vonnie are very grateful for having his life back. We congratulate Dennis on being one of the very rare individuals in medical history to be able to return to work after a failed back surgery and 15 years of increasing pain and disability.
Back to Top Alternative To Knee Replacment, Severe Back Pain, Neck Arthritis and Rotator Cuff Tear Tom Ottery, 75, of Fond du Lac, WI had a hard life as a milk hauler lifting cans and driving a large truck for 56 years. In 1986 his left knee gave out from the work and he had surgery for artificial replacement. A long slow painful recovery followed. In 1996 his right knee became severely arthritic and he was advised to have surgical replacement. His wife was very ill with lung disease requiring his nearly constant care. Tom felt he could not care for his wife and run the household with all the rehabilitation required with the major surgery. Also Tom’s right leg was more complicated as he had by-pass surgery which caused pain from the groin to the foot. Dr. Faber applied neural-fascial injection therapy to these operated areas. After a few treatments Tom noticed that the pain running down his leg disappeared. After about 15 of the joint reconstructive treatments he could tell he had marked improvements of the knee. He completed his knee treatments (31) in 1997. Tom states he has had no more pain and golfs on the knee. In fall of 1998 Tom’s back gave out and caused such trouble that he had to crawl to the bathroom in the morning. Tom received 12 reconstructive treatments on it and has had no pain or further medicine or treatments since. Jane Ottery, wife of Tom Ottery, suffered a fall on the ice. This activated neck arthritis and shoulder pain of a severe nature. She had pain on turning her neck and lifting her shoulder. It disturbed her sleep as well as prevented her from tending her grandchildren and golf, activities she loved to do. She saw doctors who gave her medicines. She then went to a chiropractor which seemed to aggravate it. The four doctors gave two cortisone injections, still no help. She was told she needed a rotator cuff surgery. Her neck and shoulder pain worsened so that even riding in a car was painful. Tom told her to see Dr. Faber, which she did. The reconstructive injection treatments first knocked the pain down, then restored her strength and motion. After completing 22 treatments in March 2003 her results have lasted, allowing her to hold her precious grandchildren, travel and golf without further treatment. Congratulations to Jane and Tom Ottery on your victories over pain and disability. It is indeed priceless to overcome pain and disability. Unfortunately it is often only achieved by “special” people who can take a road less traveled. We are deeply proud to have served in bringing this about. Spinal Fractures, 6 1/4” Height Loss, Terrible Pain & Disability Sylvia Whynot of Long Grove, IL started her clinic treatment at 69 years of age after hearing Dr. Faber speak at the National Health Convention in Chicago in 1989. Her first visit is well remembered as she used a walker and moaned with the slightest movement. She had lost 6¼ inches in height due to compression fractures of her entire spine vertebrae including neck, mid-back and low back. Her rib cage had collapsed into her pelvic cavity and she had severe scoliosis as well. Dr. Faber clearly recalls the staff urging him not to accept her as a patient because her pain and disability were so severe. They urged him to recommend hospitalization. He retorted that she was not a surgical candidate because fusion would not be successful with the severe osteoporosis and because of her high sensitivities which caused her to be sick with most medications and some vitamins. He confidently told the staff that she was a nice lady whom he believed could be helped with reconstructive therapy. She could not be fit with even a non-rigid back support due to her deformity and discomfort which the support itself caused to her tender body. Reconstructive therapy was carefully started along with nutritional therapy and home injections of Calcitonin. She did weekly injection therapy and made progress in all areas. She became able to stand, walk, ride and sleep without terrible pain. She was able to return to her beloved painting after having quit due to her disabilities. Pictured here is one of her beautiful water colors. She was able to make winter trips to Arizona that she and her husband loved doing. Her treatment was able to be decreased in frequency and intensity. At one visit it was noted that Sylvia had bright red sunburn on her back. She explained that she had gotten this by hand-pulling weeds from her garden. Dr. Faber stated that he had never seen a sunburn that made him so happy, as he knew that it represented permanent improvement of her devastating spinal condition. Her loving husband Don, who was responsible for her care when she was completely disabled, remarked “The therapy gave us ten good years that we spent together which we would have not been able to accomplish otherwise.” Sylvia passed away in March 2001. She is remembered as a loving noble person. We are very thankful for the skills and experience to have played a significant part in the winter of her life. 11 YEARS OF PAIN IN SPINE, SHOULDERS, WRIST, FEET, ANKLES For eleven years I suffered 24/7 spinal pain. I desperately tried to combat the pain with intensive massage therapy, monthly chiropractic, yoga, weight training, vitamins and organic diet. I knew I wasn’t making progress when I had two months of poor sleep. Due to the increasing numbness of my hands and arms, my beloved horse riding activities had to be curtailed. I was advised to be in a cervical collar. I couldn’t see any light at the end of the tunnel for me. My fiancé advised me to seek Dr. Faber’s help. Dr. Faber’s evaluation informed me that I have congenital hypermobility syndrome. He told me this condition is genetically inherited, usually from the mother’s side and is much more common in girls. Although appearing normal, they frequently develop pain with no noted injuries or overuse around age 40. Injuries or high use accelerate the process. They frequently are diagnosed as having migraines, fibromyalgia, tension headache, depression, chronic fatigue. Often an individual joint is given an “itis” (e.g. arthritis, bursitis, myositis, etc.). He pointed out that this condition is missed by other health professionals but is a big cause of unrelieved chronic pain. Fortunately reconstructive therapy (prolotherapy) can permanently resolve these problems. I began intensive injection therapy on my entire spine, shoulders, wrists, feet and ankles. In weeks I could tell my years of misery and struggles to get through the day were lessening. The deep aches and pains that nothing touched before were fading. I noticed strength and endurance I hadn’t had in years. A milestone for me was the purchase of my wonderful Morgan/Foundation Quarter horse Finbarr a year and a half ago. I ride with the French classical dressage discipline 3 to 4 times a week and I trail ride with my husband. I hike 4-5 miles in the woods, ride my bike and enjoy keeping up with my 5 year old granddaughter Kaylee. I thank Dr. Faber’s knowledge of reconstructive therapy and my faith for restoring my life. Diane Conkin Sheboygan, WI Back to Top Recovery From Severe Impairing Headache, Spinal, Elbow and Shoulder Pain Harry Aho worked hard all his life and loved his job as a dairy farmer. But life dealt Harry many hard blows. After enduring two elbow surgeries with no relief, a third surgery was scheduled but Harry’s wife Lori said “No”. Harry began to search for alternatives. He was encouraged when he learned of Dr. Faber’s work from Ernest Huhta, a noted neuromuscular therapist from Menahga, MN. Following his second surgery Harry’s pain had worsened and he additionally suffered from pain in his shoulders, neck, midback as well as elbow pain and severe headaches. Harry feared he would be unable to continue working as a dairy farmer because of his high pain and the resulting fatigue. Encouraged by the reports of Dr. Faber’s successes with difficult cases, Harry decided to make the 9 hour trip from Frazee, MN to Milwaukee in December 1995, hoping to get relief. Although it was difficult to make the long trip to Milwaukee and to stay in a hotel so that he could do an accelerated program of 2 to 4 therapy sessions per week, Harry stuck to his program and was pleased when he starting noticing he was actually getting results and feeling better. His progress continued giving him hope that he may finally find lasting relief. Encouraged by his lasting results, Harry continued with intermittent intensive treatments until December of 1999 at which time he accomplished near perfect and permanent recovery. Harry’s recovery significantly affected all aspects of his life. Harry and Lori had always wanted more children but had put off adding to their family because of the many difficulties they had encountered. Happily, however, with Harry’s recovery they were able to adopt five children. Seeing the love they now share has had special meaning for all of us at the Milwaukee Pain Clinic and we are grateful to have shared a part in turning their life around in so many significant ways. Rotator Cuff Tear, Neck and Back Disability Resolved For 15 Years Scott Schultz, 20, was diagnosed with rotator cuff tear and a labrum ground down to nothing. His surgeon told him he was too young for surgery so he did two months of physical therapy and had cortisone injections without help. Doctors gave him no further options. He had to stop his beloved water skiing and weight lifting. At age 15 he had a weight lifting injury to his low back. He managed this with chiropractic and physical therapy. If he exerted too much he would have to ice, take ibuprofen and get 3-4 chiropractic treatments and rest for a week or two. In spite of this his back would always hurt and he would have two of the above severe episodes per year. His father brought him in to see Dr. Faber in so much pain he couldn’t shift his car. After evaluation Dr. Faber advised him that he was a candidate for reconstructive therapy and discovered Scott’s neck was also involved. Scott didn’t realize this because his shoulder’s loss of motion and pain was so severe. In starting the therapy it took six treatments for him to notice the improvements. In all Scott had periodic treatment for just less than one year. That finished his five years of pain and disability of his shoulder, neck and back. Scott says “For fifteen years now I’ve had no issues with neck, back or shoulder, and I barefoot water ski every weekend from May to October.” A continued congratulations and thanks for sharing to Scott Schultz. Scott Schultz 500 Mabel Court Waukesha, WI 53188 Alternative to Knee and Hip Replacement, Severe Disc Disease and Deformity Dorothy Wilke, 76, of Campbellsport WI reports that she began to have pain in her legs, knees and other parts of her body in the early ‘90’s. She took pain medications, but they upset her stomach. After being treated for Lymes disease, she was prescribed Clinoril. This relieved her pain enough for her to remain active. Starting in winter of 1995 Dorothy had three relatives in the hospital at once and only her daughter to help her. Eventually Dorothy’s knee and leg pain was no longer relieved by the Clinoril. She checked with others who had knee and hip replacements, but their results gave her severe reservations on this. She remembered hearing Dr. Faber on the radio and saw an ad for one of his seminars. She attended and decided to try reconstructive therapy. Dorothy started treatments to her left knee in April 1997. She responded promptly and permanently to reconstructive therapy (prolotherapy/injection therapy). Following relief of the severe knee pain she noted hip, back, groin and thigh pain. X-rays showed complete loss of the hip joint and marked deformity. Her low back x-rays showed such disc degeneration and deformity that Dr. Faber commented it may have been the worst he had ever seen. She received reconstructive therapy injections to these areas and improved to such an extent that she could care for her animals, tend her garden, climb ladders, run, and sleep the whole night without pain. She says with happiness “I take no arthritis or pain medicines whatsoever.” Dorothy continues to take part in full activities on her farmette and is in charge of the small animal barn at the Fond du Lac County Fair. We extend our congratulations to Dorothy on her success in overcoming pain and disability without drugs and surgery. Failed Neck, Back, Foot and Heart Surgeries Before I got treatment from Dr. Faber walking on even plush carpeting was painful, the cushioning under my feet was worn off. I am now able to walk on concrete without pain. I fell often and stumbled trying to step over objects. I had drop foot and the pinched nerve in my back didn't allow me to lift my foot high enough. I would walk carefully, so as to catch myself. My ankles were also weak. I had back surgery, neck surgery and multiple foot surgeries. All failed to give adequate relief. I had difficulty getting out of a chair, then I had to stand and rock to get started walking. My spine moved too much. When I turned my head from side to side, you could see the spine move. I also had spurs on my spine which gave me a lot of pain. My left knee was loose, the bones grinding and moving where they should have been solid. My right hip was very painful, and down my leg also. My neck was limited turning from left to right. Shopping was very hard as my legs burned and my back had a lot of pain. After shopping for one hour I spent from two hours to two days in bed. I was told by doctors to get things to make life easier like a walker and a raised toilet seat. After Dr. Faber's treatments I now live a normal pain-free life. My back is strong and solid. No drop foot, no problem getting out of chairs, and no walking problems. I am able to shop for hours. I have a body brace, but thanks to Dr. Faber, I no longer need it. After heart surgery I had to sleep sitting in a chair, I couldn't lie down. After one treatment by Dr. Faber I was able to sleep in my bed again. In April 2002 I was in the hospital for painful infection in my joints. I had antibiotics by IV and by mouth but after I went home the infection returned. I was so weak that I couldn't talk and I was in bed 22 hours a day. Dr. Faber found the problem was hidden infection in my teeth area and now I am doing great again. These are only a fraction of the health and physical problems Dr. Faber solved for me. Eleanor Baenen, Crivitz, WI (From Instant Pain Relief 2nd Edition) Individual results vary.
