Prolotherapy Treatment for Sacroiliac Pain

Sacroiliac joint and sciatica pain are two of the most common ailments treated at Milwaukee Pain Treatment Center. The sacroiliac joint is at the base of the spine, connecting the upper body to the hips and legs. Each person has two, one on each side of the body. With the support of healthy ligaments, the joint provides shock absorption to the spine while running, walking, or using the legs. Due to its placement and regular use, it is a common source of pain, with one third of lumbosacral spinal fusion patients experiencing sacroiliac joint pain.

Sacroiliac joint dysfunction usually indicates additional problems. As a result, it is vital to have complete diagnostic tests to determine the true source of your pain. Dr. Neal H. Pollack’s care philosophy includes compassionate diagnostics to ensure you don’t just mask the pain but stop it at the source. All components of your problems are methodically investigated and properly addressed. Other conditions or diseases which are in the differential diagnosis include:

  • Ankylosing spondylitis
  • Lumbar disc pain
  • Rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis
  • Myofascial pain
  • Radiculopathy
  • Inflammation (sacroiliitis)
  • Referred visceral pain
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Trochanteric bursitis
  • Facet joint pain
  • Pregnancy

Pregnant women may experience sacroiliac pain as a result of their ligaments relaxing in preparation for labor. The more pregnancies a woman has, the more likely she is to experience joint dysfunction later in life.

Symptoms

What are the symptoms of sacroiliac dysfunction and instability?

  • Pain is felt in the buttocks, lower back, groin, hips, abdomen, lower leg and foot
  • Pain radiates from the hip area
  • Pain is mostly on one side of the body
  • Pain is worse when entering or exiting a car or going from sitting to standing
  • A pop is heard followed by temporary pain relief
  • Increased urination
  • Numbness or tingling sensation
  • More pain after standing, sitting, or lying down for long periods of time

Pain in the sacroiliac joint may be either short and sharp or long and dull. If you can no longer go from sitting to standing without pain, you need to visit Neurology & Pain Treatment Center. Our prolotherapy patients achieve stabilization of the joint and greatly improve function after treatment.

Treatments

Using Prolotherapy to Stop Sacroiliac Pain

Without treatment, sacroiliac diseases and disorders may escalate. Prolotherapy is an alternative to invasive surgery or a lifetime of pain killer medication. Both of the above treatments are used by many. Accurate diagnosis, skillful manipulation and stabilization of a loose sacroiliac joint are done by Dr. Neal Pollack.

When you need treatment for sacroiliac pain relief, trust Dr. Pollack and the Milwaukee Pain Treatment Center.
